With a little help from our friends
As part of our work as investors, we know that profits are essential to create capital for growth, job security and overall financial success. Profits are the "savings" every business needs in order to change and evolve to meet the future goals and challenges. But we do believe that social responsibility and financial health have to flourish together.
A bankruptcy is a harsh and emotional process for all stakeholders of a company. In certain situations something good and stronger comes out of such process. But in many cases it does cause a lot of stress and negative emotions.
As part of the restart of Bakker.com, we’ve tried to look after the people that weren’t part of the restart. Not because we had to, but because we believe that social responsibility not solely rest with the appropriate authorities. We’ve therefor formed an agile task force with the municipality of Lisse and local entrepreneurs, to ‘introduce and match’ former employees to job positions in the region.
Together with the help of local entrepreneurs like Lennard van Kampen of Vanka, Jørgen de Ree of de Ree Holland and our HR manager Miranda Kelder, we were able to help 2/3 of the former employees to new jobs in the region. Within weeks. With a little help from our friends ;-)
